about

Alexander Wolfe is a New Cross based singer/songwriter. He started his musical career in the band ‘Taxi’ with none other than Jamie Cullum, who he is still friends with to this day. The band supported Paul Weller in 2002 – ably backing him with their take on northern soul. Since the demise of Taxi, Alexander has gone on to perform solo, and has gone so far as to win the Emerngenza singer/songwriter award in 2008.
His debut solo album, ‘Morning Brings A Flood’, was available digitally from 12th October 2009. Released through Redemption Records, and performed almost completely by Alexander himself, it was funded by the sale of an extremely rare Rembrandt print left to Alexander by his grandfather. He has featured on Track of the Day, Guardian ‘New Band of the Day’, NME download of the day, as well as having a personal feature in the Sunday Times.

The story of how Alexander Wolfe's debut album 'Morning Brings a Flood' came to be is not your typical one. Originally intended to be an acoustic collection of songs that captured the stark difference between darkness & light (in music, life, our experiences, emotions, day and night), the album began life as some simple recordings that evolved into a dense, sprawling, internally driven piece of work.
Determined to make the record he had in his head, Alex took a completely DIY approach and shut himself away in various lofts, bedrooms and studios around London and Buckinghamshire. He played all of the instruments (bar the drums, the strings & the horns) himself and took a self-taught crash course in recording and production.
The result is an utterly personal, direct musical insight to the weird and wonderful, twisted world of Alexander Wolfe.
